President’s Letter May 2023

Hello Seattle Metals Guild members,

As we move further into spring, we have some exciting updates and events to share with you. I hope you get a chance to enjoy this spring weather, and attend some of our upcoming events!

I would like to extend my appreciation to all those who attended the metals mixer at Madrona Arms a few weeks ago! It was wonderful to catch up with some long-time friends and meet new ones. Please remember that these events are open to all, irrespective of your membership status. So, invite your friends and join me for a drink at our next get-together on  May 17th, once again at Madrona Arms, from 5:30-8pm. I am already looking forward to our upcoming gathering!

Our new website is almost ready! Hopefully by this time next month I’ll be able to share it will you all. If you’re interested in testing it out, or have any photos you’d like added, please get in touch with me at president@seattlemetalsguild.org. The great news is that we were able to transfer our membership management software over seamlessly, so you won’t have to sign up for anything again. Just log-in with your current member log-in and you’ll be set.

In other guild news, our Annual General Meeting is coming up. It will be Sunday June 4th from 4-6pm at Micki’s house on Capitol Hill. We will have presentations from our emerging artist grant recipient, Michelle Lierre, and our lifetime achievement award, Andy Cooperman. We will also have general updates and news. It will be a potluck so bring your favorite summer dish to share!

We’ve picked a date and started planning our annual Symposium! It will be Saturday October 7th at the Broadway Performance Hall, as always. The line-up of speakers is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to see you all there. We’re also trying to have the biennial at the same time, so start figuring out what you’d like to submit to the show!

Have a great month!

Nina
